Took a trip via Battenoord, to see the Flamingoos with his own eyes. Wind was bit too West, so at the roundabout the wind was less than on the water. Started with JP 102 and Ice 5.3 with MFC 29cm, more volume for safety. Wind was strong for the Ice 5.3, switched to the JP 84. Prediction was 30+ knots, that's already a lot, but it ended up being 40 knots. While rigging, a gust blow my 3.7 right out of my hands. Sailed all of the afternoon with the JP Single Thruster Pro 75 and Voodoo 3.7. Tried Different fin combinations. Wind was too strong for real good surfing. Anything above the 40 knots is more survival than surfing. Between 30 and 40 knots is pretty good to sail. [Read...]


It was a go: the Red Bull Storm Chase. This time in Ireland. Wind Force 10, insane high waves and the best and most radical wave surfers of the moment, gusts up to 130 km/h. That means: very impressibve images. [Read...]

After 2 weeks calm and for February very warm weather, change in weather: Wind. I could have an afternoon off from work. Started with the JP FSW 102 with Ice 5.3 and MFC FreeWave 29cm. 5.3 a bit big, switch to the FSW 84. Later rigged the Ice 4.7. That was great, much more wind than expected.
