Prediction was wind until 14:00 and then decreasing. Sailed with the iSonic 101 with E-Type 6.6. From the shore, I could plane almost immediately. A little further from the shore immediately nice power in the sail. Set sailed nicely. Wind increased, sail become too big. Switched to FSW 102 with Banzai 5.3 Step on: plane, first wave: jump. Planing jibes also quickly went well. Sail feels so much lighter than the 6.6, Was good, more wind than predicted, it did not decrease, but actually increased. Nice bit of freeriding. After three days I was getting really tired, it was a good weekend. [Read...]

Today's weather predicted wind, slowly increasing. Wind a bit less then day before. So took the JP FSW 84 with Banzai 4.7. On the beach the wind wasn't enough to get planing, a little further out I could get planing, but only on my toes. Time to take the bigger board: JP FSW 102. Normally I wouldn't sail the FSW 102 with a 4.7. But given the limited time the fastest option to plane more easily. Delicious bump-n-jump conditions. It was very busy, a lot of friends on the water. Corona still makes it a bit less cozy. [Read...]

Increasing winds predicted. I arrived just after the showers. Wind had just left. Surfers where using 4.2 and 4.7 sails. Wind probably came back again, started with the FSW 84 and Banzai 4.7 Further from the beach the wind was clearly stronger and the 4.7 a bit large. The 4.7 was really too big. Time for the 4.2. The 4.2 work a lot better. The 4.2 became really too big. More survival than surfing, so time to stop. It wasn't cold, but it was stronger wind than I expected. The sometimes very hard gusts made it exhausting, but the jumping and waveriding made it a lot of fun. [Read...]

Forecast was wind increasing to 28 to 32 knots NNO. Not really the best wind direction. In the morning rain, dry in the afternoon, so arrived 15:00 at Brouwersdam. Started with the JP FreestyleWave 84 with Goya Banzai 4.7 and 21/10cm fins, first time with my new Goya Banzai sails. Big high swell and in the clean free wind, sail was too big. First tried the AHD 75, but eventually rigged the 3.7. The 3.7 was too big, too. Only between the gusts was it really nice. Pack up and head home. Everything full of sand, but it was fun, but heavy. Goya's are approved. [Read...]

After 6 weeks adviced isolation and only easterly wind finally once again west wind. Because of social distancing: briefly surf and go home. Used the iSonic 117 with S-Type 7.3 and SL-X43cm. Wind wasn't super strong, but I could easily plane. It's nice to have a little time back on the water, often nice and sunny. I think a lot of surfers should try better at social distancing. [Read...]
